So anyways I have something I need to tell you all, if you know me you know I love animals, all animals, I’m the one to know that we must raise animals for most existence. What I’m talking about is the family pet what every that is for you. Mine is the dog! The breed is bulldogs. I have a Frenchie bulldog his name is Nero, he is 16 months old he is a cream with green eyes and full of the most energy you ever want to see. Then I have 3 English bulldogs, my Loulou is 4 years old, she is black and white and a busy body she’s in everyone business then I have my 2 babies bulldogs, Punkin and Jax. Both are 14 weeks old they are siblings Punkin is a white face female with freckles and the prettiest green eyes I’ve ever seen on a puppy, then I have Jax who is a huge boy weighing in at 21 labels and the most laid back guy around. My sister said why’d you get 2 Kelly I said I couldn’t choose and Susie the breeder of these beautiful puppies is the best quality of the English bulldog I have known Susie for 4 years Loulou came from her breeding family when I say family that is exactly what I mean. Susie has been breeding several breeds of dogs since 1990. Her facility is state of the ark with human contact first and foremost. Isn’t nothing for you to see her in the breeding box with the mamas and babies holding them when she takes video for you as they are growing she will be talking to the puppies just as you and I do like they know what we are saying she raises her puppies with care and love for the breed and she only want what best for her dogs I have heard her say time and time again, I’m so lucky I have you the families to love my babies. It isn’t nothing for you to go to her house their she has her mama dogs and the litters running around living the life, she takes breeding to another level as like Susie, Mindy has programs, ships puppies gets puppies all over the world across big oceans, she even will help make you a program. Mindy is all about the purest DNA of the Frenchie. She knows everything good, bad, in between so if you have questions, she is the girl with the answers. She too is in our April issue. While the art of maintaining a tractor can be recreational for some, Bruley was referring to the new way his shop is being heated. Last summer, Bruley installed a hydronic heating system for his new repair shop, replacing a dilapidated building that was on its last legs. “I figured I might as well get with the times,” Bruley said. Bruley isn’t alone. Radiant heating is becoming the standard for new building projects. But what is hydronic heating? Why is it rapidly replacing the more traditional forced-air option? First, let’s go over the basics. Hydronic radiant systems use in-floor tubing (called PEX pipes) through which heated water circulates. A hydronic system can be installed in concrete in a slab-on-grade construction, in a thin layer of concrete over a subfloor, underneath the subfloor between the joists in an existing home with a basement or crawl space, or within a subfloor. Without blasting air through the house, hydronic radiant systems can boast features like being quiet, being easier to zone, and no stirring up of dust or allergens. Hydronic systems can be paired with many types of heat sources, including gas and electric boilers, heat pumps, geothermal systems, and solar heating. Because radiant heat is stored in the structures being heated, it dissipates slowly, meaning it can keep homes comfortable during power failures or when large doors are opened. And with the right controls, accessories, and installation methods, hydronic radiant heating can help achieve energy efficiency goals while providing warmth and comfort to a home’s occupants in cold climates. “That’s the main reason we designed HUG Hydronics. Stern not known one single word of English, sold his singing birds to John Wannamaker Department store at Astor Place in Manhattan. Soon he founded the Hartz Mountain Company. (He added the t so American would pronounce the name Harz properly) at the Copper Square. Stern traveled back and forth many times to Germany, each time with more and more singing canaries, selling to stores like Macy, Sears Roebuck, F.W. Woolworth, W.T. Grant, and S.S. Kresge. He soon expanded to selling packages of bird foods and cages to go along with his birds. His son Leonard joined his company in 1959 and expanded the company again. The expansion line included fish, goldfish, tropical fish, and all the aquatic supplies. Following the next decade, Hartz Mountain began selling dog and cat products, most notably for the Hartz Flea &Tick Collar, to this day it’s the best- selling collar. Leonard turned his father’s small pet supply business into a major corporation. Today the company sells everything for our beloved pets. Including mirrors for the parakeets, and the plastic palm trees for the turtles. In 2000, a private equity investment firm purchased the Hartz Mountain Corporation, and then in 2004 the Sumitomo Corporation acquired the company, Still known today as the Hartz. As of date Hartz sells more than 1,500 productscatering to dogs, cats, parakeets, canaries, parrots, cockatiels, finches, goldfish, tropical fish, reptiles, ferrets, chinchillas, guinea pigs, hamsters, and rabbits. Indeed, the Beefmaster female has stayed true to her original purpose: to help ranchers in tough environments improve performance, survivability and longevity. So, if you are giving up ground in traits that matter, consider Beefmasters. The breed will jump-start your cattle and give your next calf crop a performance boost. Beefmaster is a beef breed developed in America that improves beef quality and production efficiency when crossed with any other cattle breed for commercial beef production. The breed originated in Southern Texas in the late 1800s into the early 1900s. The Lasater family originally developed a large herd of Hereford cattle carefully selected to withstand the heat and insects of the Texas Gulf Coast region, but they were still not perfectly suited to that difficult environment. So Lasater began to experiment with incorporating Bos indicus or Zebu genetics, in the form of Gyr and Guzerat bulls from India and Nelore from Brazil. While the practice of crossbreeding was virtually unheard of at the time, they immediately saw a tremendous jump in productive traits, such as weight gain and reproductive rates. This is genetic advantage known as heterosis or hybrid vigor. By the early 1930s, the ranch also incorporated Milking Shorthorn genetics, to augment milk production and carcass quality. They could immediately see that the three-way hybrid was far superior to the two-way crosses. The final composite ended up at roughly 50% Bos indicus and 50% Bos taurus (25% Hereford and 25% Shorthorn). As Lasater developed the breed, he also formed a unique selection philosophy known today as The Lasater Philosophy. The concept is to only select cattle for economically relevant traits, which he distilled to these Six Essential traits. The Six Essentials are weight, conformation, milk production, fertility, hardiness and disposition. It is the only breed in history to be selected only using pressure for productive traits, as opposed to aesthetics. In 1937, the herd was closed to outside genetics with continued internal development to cull low-performers and upgrade all traits together equally. By 1954 the foundation herd was recognized by USDA under the name of Beefmaster. In 1961, Beefmaster Breeders United (BBU) was founded and is headquartered in Boerne, Texas. Beefmaster ranks fifth in the U.S. in terms of membership and is the largest of the American breeds. The association has over 3,000 members registering around 19,000 calves annually. Beefmasters also enjoy a rapidly growing international footprint, with established associations in nine countries worldwide. The breed has rapidly grown around the world and has become known as the prime maternal cow for serious commercial cattlemen that appreciate their production excellence, particularly in harsh desert or tropical environments.

With global demand for higher-quality beef growing geometrically, Beefmasters provide the perfect breed to cross on commercial cattle to improve production efficiency and carcass quality, while not sacrificing adaptability. Beefmasters are well known within the international beef industry for their successful adaptation in tropical climates. While this has proven true in Central America and Thailand, this unique breed succeeds in high altitude deserts, as well as in cold and wet environments. The Lasater Foundation herd was moved in 1948 to Matheson, Colorado – where it remains to this day. The Lasater Ranch is located on the Rocky Mountain plains, which is known for its high altitude, snow, extreme cold and meager grassland for foraging. Beefmaster cattle also flourish in the deserts of South Africa, Botswana, and Zambia. They thrive in the mountains of Colombia and Venezuela, as well as Montana, Oregon, New Mexico, Kentucky, and Wisconsin. Commercial cattlemen have noted substantial economic gains from using Beefmasters to provide an average increase of 60 pounds, or more at weaning when compared with other breeds. They excel post-weaning as well, with faster weight gains, excellent feed conversion and carcass yields around 64%. Land grant universities in Texas, Florida, and Oklahoma are conducting research projects to evaluate carcass quality and feed efficiency through utilizing Beefmaster for crossbreeding on popular breeds such as Angus, Charolais, Hereford, Simmental, Limousin and even some dairy breeds. The Noble Research Institute is also working with Beefmaster Breeders United to conduct economic research on grass-fed, and grain fed carcass merit. Their research points to the heterosis gains showing “an extra calf” when weaning weights produce 110-165 extra pounds per calf born. In a time when sustainability is becoming increasingly critical, Beefmasters have repeatedly demonstrated that they are highly efficient converters of both forage and feeds into lean, tender, high-quality beef. A recent study at the U.S. Department of Agriculture Meat Animal Research Center (MARC) demonstrated Beefmaster’s dominance when compared to 18 of the most widely used beef breeds in the United States. To summarize, the Beefmaster female excels in all maternal traits. They get bred easily, year in and year out. They make raising good calves look easy. And they possess excellent longevity because they do not break down in tough environments. In this article we’ll look at them to provide a framework for selecting a tiller to suit your particular parameters. Often folks will address the question slightly differently, quantifying it by acreage, “how big a tiller should I purchase to till 25 acres?” for example. A counterargument to that is, how much time do you want to devote to the task? A 48-inch tiller can process 100 acres of ground as well as an 8-foot tiller can, but it will obviously take longer. If your goal is to process the land as quickly as possible because you are doing so as a business, wider units may be desirable. However, if you enjoy the serenity of working the fields and view it as a sort of therapy, then a 48-inch version may suit you fine. We’ll look at specific examples of acreage plots and how long standard sized tillers can process them a little later. Longevity of equipment is another consideration. Like any equipment with mechanical components, tiller parts will wear out, and they do so faster with more frequent use. Tines can be replaced if worn out or bent, as can chain for chain-driven models, or gears on gear drive versions. Tines will need to be replaced sooner when working all day, every day, all year round, versus an acre a year over 10 years. While wear parts may need replacement, the tiller itself will likely last a long while, especially when only used occasionally. Most manufacturers offer various grades of tillers - so while a 48-inch tiller designed for garden use and a beefier model designed for on-farm usage both cover 48-inches per pass, they are not equal in terms of materials of construction and cannot be considered equals. Tillers are designed to operate within a range of horsepower. Because tillers with more tines require more horsepower, attachments at the upper end of the HP range will perform better than those at the lower end. This is especially Importance when your HP fits between several tiller sizes. For example, if you have a 25-HP tractor with a Category 1 3-point hitch, you could opt for a 48-inch, 60-inch, or 72-inch-wide tiller. Being at the upper limit of the 48-inch model, you’ll likely have plenty of power for varying soil conditions, whereas being at the low end of the range for the 72-inch version, difficult soil conditions - wetter soils, clay-consistency, rocks, etc., may cause more problems and impede performance. A tiller used for 2 acres a year for 10-years, sees the same wear as a tiller used for 20 acres in a year. You are still churning through the same amount of soil - you are just doing so over time. Working a tractor/tiller combination all day, every day, all year long will certainly see more usage than the 20-acre examples listed above, so the wear items will require more frequent replacement. For larger projects, or for those who are tilling for profit, time is money, so “bigger is better” may be an appropriate motto as the payback for increased size will be faster. But an oversized attachment that is too big for the tractor will struggle - especially in tough conditions. You must match the attachment to the tractor at hand.
